To qualify for an ATP certificate, a person must be at least 23 years of age, have a commercial pilot certificate, have an instrument rating, accumulate 1,500 hours of flight time, and pass both the ATP written and practical exams.

ATP-CTP

The Airline Transport Pilot Certification Training Program (ATP-CTP) is a certification program that was introduced in 2014. To be eligible for the ATP-CTP, a person must be at least 18 years of age, have a private pilot certificate as well as a current medical certificate, accumulate 250 hours of flight time, and pass the ATP written exam. The ATP-CTP course prepares a person to take the ATP certificate examination and is offered through Alliance Aviation.

How Long Does It Take?

The total hours required for a private pilot license is 40 hours. To become ATP certified, you must complete 1,500 hours, which usually takes an average of two years to finish.
